Charsfield Three Horseshoes Community Pub Ltd

At the village hall meeting on 12 November we announced and explained our plans to set up Charsfield Three Horseshoes Community Pub Limited. It will be a ‘community benefit society‘ – an alternative to a traditional company specifically for community enterprises. We hope to be established (following approval by the Financial Services Authority (FSA)) within the next few weeks.

We will soon publish our ‘prospectus’, inviting people from the local area and beyond to become members of the Society and invest to help buy the freehold of the pub if no-one else comes forward in the meantime. We plan to employ a manager to run the pub, and to operate in an open, democratic, environmentally-sustainable and family-friendly way, providing welcoming facilities at the pub for all members of the community including by, where possible, using local produce. Anyone becoming a member of the Society will have an equal say in how the pub is run.

The Rules of Charsfield Three Horseshoes Community Pub Ltd are based on ‘model rules’ provided to us by the Co-Op Enterprise Hub. We are still finalising some of the details. The Co-Op’s lawyers will check our rules before we send them for approval by the FSA. Here is an easy-read explanation of our proposed rules. Here is a copy showing the changes from the Co-Op’s ‘model’ rules. And here is a ‘clean copy’ of our Rules.

And here’s the menu from the party!
